Lightweight Transport Wheelchair

This transport wheelchair is built on an aluminum frame specifically to keep the overall weight down, since transport chairs are meant to be lifted into a trunk or carried up a step by a caregiver rather than self-propelled over long distances. It folds width-wise with the push of a release lever, collapsing to a slim profile for storage.

The rear wheels are fitted with locking brakes on both sides, which hold the chair stationary during transfers, and the smaller front and rear wheel size (compared to a full-size manual wheelchair) is a deliberate tradeoff — it keeps the chair light and compact at the cost of being pushed by a companion rather than self-propelled.

Padded armrests and swing-away footrests round out the comfort features: the footrests swing out of the way for easier transfers in and out of the seat, and the armrests give a comfortable resting position for the arms during use. The seat upholstery is a durable nylon that wipes clean easily.
